While a showcase of my hobbies, the purpose of this page is twofold, allowing me to keep track of ongoing projects and recall past projects.
Woodworking
I was first introduced to woodworking as an eighth-grader when my industrial design class visited the high school woodshop. I was immediately hooked during my visit, and consequently spent the next four years of high school taking independent study woodworking classes. While this hobby has taken a forced hiatus due to the lack of access to a woodshop, I intend to resume this passion as soon as I can. Below, I have highlighted some of my favorite pieces I made throughout high school.

Guitar
I started playing guitar when the Pandemic began-- a hobby I would have pursued much sooner had I not been a stubborn younger brother with an older brother who played. Playing guitar also encompasses my love for music and musical gear, as I research what equipment certain artists used to create specific songs that I enjoy or tones that intrigue me, and work to mimic the artist. Below, I keep track of certain tones I am chasing or feel I have gotten down well, as well as songs I am learning with my roommates, who play drums and bass. Also, when funds are available, I will be building a replica of David Gilmour's (Pink Floyd) "Black Strat", and my progress for that project is tracked below.

Song List
I started learning full songs this past academic year as opposed to learning riffs, licks, and scales. This change began when one of my roommates bought a drum set and my other roommate brought his bass guitar to campus. Below is a list I use to track my progress on the songs we are learning together.
Active Songs
Paranoid - Black Sabbath
Completed
Communication Breakdown - Led Zeppelin
Rhythm sections completed
Solo learned, but intro lick and ladder lick need brought to tempo
Santeria - Sublime
Rhythm sections completed
Solo learned, but not up to proper speed
Dazed and Confused - Led Zeppelin
Intro to extended jam section is well-oiled, but the jam is still a work in progress
Solo is essentially unlearned due to complexity and length, but an improvised section works as a filler
Exit from solo and outro need more practice
Lemon Song - Led Zeppelin
Main riff and variations are almost up to tempo
Turnaround solo is learned, but not the hybrid-picked section into the turnaround solo
Solo unlearned
Inactive Songs
White Room - Cream
Rhythm sections completed
Beginning of solo completed -- improvisation of solo in style completed
Simple Man - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Rhythm sections completed
Need to learn solo
Whole Lotta Love - Led Zeppelin
Rhythm and solo completed
Need to find working improvisation to fill section made with theremin in actual song
Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out - Derek and the Dominoes
Rhythm and intro solo completed
Improvised solo learned, but not note for note to the original
Hand of Doom - Black Sabbath
Intro riff, and two of three main riffs completed
Need to learn final riff and solo
Gilmour's 'Black Strat' [10]
"Black Strat" Replica Project
Plan of Action:
Research and record hardware and physical specifications (get Phil Taylor's book on the history of the Black Strat)
Find parts that will satisfy the parameters defined through research
Create an inventory to estimate the price of the project and track the necessary modifications
Buy a black Fender Stratocaster body, black pickguard, and properly dimensioned maple neck (profile, radius, headstock shape, etc.)
Add hardware to skeleton as budget allows until every item on the inventory is accounted for.
Beekeeping
Introduced to beekeeping by my high school Biology teacher Mr. Nikiforow, who hosted a series of after-school lectures that taught the basics of beekeeping, I started two hives in the spring of 2016. I purchased one of the hives and replicated the other in woodshop, while also building a 'nucleus' hive to temporarily store the bees until they were acclimated to their queen. While one of the hives failed to survive the first winter, the other hive survived until 2019 when it was destroyed by a falling tree. Although unable to practice this hobby at college, I intend to start a hive when I have the property to do so.
